Giving of our time, talent and treasure mainly
involves a change of attitude about giving. It’s
important to think in terms of giving in gratitude to
God, of considering how blessed we are, of using
our gifts and talents for the good of others. In the
area of time, and talent, many individuals commit
a certain number of hours each week to prayer
and charitable activities. In the area of treasure,
some Christians choose the biblical norm of giving
10 percent of their treasure. Some because of
circumstances, give more than that. Others might
start at 2, 3, or 4 percent, and work upwards.
How are we to give of our time, talent, and
treasure?
Stewardship involves intentional, planned, and
proportionate giving of our time, talent, and
treasure. Following are some comments that further
explain what we mean by intentional, planned, and
proportionate giving:
Intentional – A well thought out, deliberate discussion
is made to live out the Christian life in a certain way.
That way is to thank God for all our blessings by
returning to the Lord a portion of the time, talent, and
treasure allotted to us.
Planned – At the beginning of every year, each
Catholic house hold in the diocese would plan and
make stewardship of time and talent a part of their
lifestyle and stewardship of treasure a part of their
budget.
Proportionate – A decision is made to give a certain
percentage of one’s time and one’s income to the
Church and other charities

Dar nuestro tiempo, talento y tesoro implica
principalmente un cambio de actitud acerca de
dar. Es importante pensar en términos de dar en
agradecimiento a Dios, de considerar cuán bendecidos
somos, de usar nuestros dones y talentos para el bien de
los demás. En el área del tiempo y el talento, muchas
personas dedican un cierto número de horas cada
semana a la oración y a actividades caritativas. En el
área del los bienes, algunos cristianos eligen la norma
bíblica de dar el 10 por ciento de sus bienes. Algunos,
por las circunstancias, dan más que eso. Otros pueden
comenzar con un 2, 3 o 4 por ciento y aumentar.
¿Cómo debemos dar de nuestro tiempo,
talento y tesoro?
La mayordomía implica dar de manera intencional,
planificada y proporcional nuestro tiempo, talento
y tesoro. A continuación, se presentan algunos
comentarios que explican más a fondo lo que
queremos decir con dar de manera intencional,
planificada y proporcional:
Intencional – Se realiza una discusión bien pensada
y deliberada para vivir la vida cristiana de una
manera específica. Esa manera es agradecer a Dios
por todas nuestras bendiciones devolviendo al Señor
una parte del tiempo, talento y tesoro que nos ha
sido asignado.
Planificada – Al comienzo de cada año, cada hogar
católico en la diócesis planificaría y haría de la
mayordomía del tiempo y el talento una parte de su
estilo de vida, y la mayordomía del tesoro una parte
de su presupuesto.
Proporcional – Se toma la decisión de dar un cierto
porcentaje de nuestro tiempo y de nuestros ingresos
a la Iglesia y otras organizaciones benéficas.
